EXPERIENCE
2022 — PRESENT

Research Engineer
National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR)
Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems (ATLAS)
- Applies core engineering principles to drive advanced manufacturing operations for aerospace materials using automated fiber placement with thermoset and thermoplastic resulting in 500 square feet of carbon fiber parts produced weekly.
- Consults with aerospace industry and government agency partners to define complex studies relevant to the industry manufacturing needs.
- Cross-trained on manufacturing specific software, CATFiber, associated with the CATIA framework to execute robotic programming for the fabrication of specified geometries.
- Analyzes engineer drawings and manufacturing work instructions to develop team-based strategies and methodologies of approaching each part concept.
- Verifies compliance with AS9100, safety parameters, and ISO clean room specifications through monitoring of environmental and operational metrics.
- Streamlined 158 routine maintenance tasks of robot systems into a comprehensive schedule by applying knowledge of circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics of materials, and structural design analysis.
- Encourages application of problem skills within the team by examining the design process and fundamental engineering approach for each project.
2022

Undergraduate Researcher
Wichita State University Astrodynamics Laboratory
- Strategized the problem-solving approach by reviewing 16 applicable literature articles.
- Developed optimization techniques for orbital infrared wildfire monitoring by implementation of astrodynamics calculations, Global Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT) visualization, and MATLAB programming.
- Analyzed five state of the art satellite systems including GOES (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites), JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System) and NPP (Suomi National PolarOrbit Partnership) to examine best practices for infrared monitoring hardware.
- Mentored by an Astrodynamics Professor in development of technical research paper.
- Presented research findings at the national conference of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society.
2021

Mechanical Engineer / Safety Officer
NASA Lucy Internship · Mars Space Flight Facility
- Received in-depth training on the following topics: Computer-Aided Design, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Heat Transfer, 3D Printing, Soldering, Electronics Interfacing, Programming (Python, Arduino, MATLAB), Data Analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (Simcenter Nastran).
- Utilized trade studies and decision matrices that resulted in six design iterations of varying complexity and capability which led to primary selection for thermal camera design.
- Integrated team input, staff mentorship, and creative intuition to develop CAD model of thermal camera design, which included customer requirements for instrument housing and all electronic components.
- Conceptualized electrical diagram of instrument circuit using Fritzing software.
- Embraced the NASA Mission, Vision, and Core Values through writing and presenting three briefings: Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, and End-Item Data Package; which were evaluated and critiqued by the facility staff leading to a refined professional technical paper that details the infrared imaging instrument.
2021

Deputy Principal Investigator / Mechanical Engineer
NASA L’SPACE Academy
- Gained valuable knowledge and technical training from NASA scientists and engineers covering topics: organizational charts, Gantt charts, mission budgets, mission requirements, risk management, functional analysis, heat transfer, and computer-aided design that was implemented into the completion of a final team project.
- As the Business Section Lead, organized and conducted team meetings throughout each week; delegated and supervised completion of mission budget analysis, hazard control and risk management, and team outreach efforts.
- Employed a reverse planning method from the anticipated mission launch date to create a mission timeline and Gantt chart that encompassed milestones and key planning dates that would ensure mission success.
- Upon completion of a 70+ page Preliminary Design Review document, the team conducted Preliminary Design Review presentations to Marshall Space Flight Center and L’SPACE Staff.
2020 — 2021

Payload / Avionics Design Engineer
Final Frontier Aerospace Systems and Technology
- Conducted organizational training for basic physics, flight dynamics, and material properties to achieve L1 high-powered rocket certification at group launch event.
- Leveraged technology in SolidWorks, Open Rocket, Python, Arduino, and GitHub to organize functions of modular rocket system.
- Employed skills in soldering, injection molding, and 3D printing during manufacturing process of 11 ft rocket.
- While assigned as lead design engineer for the avionics bay; designed, conducted structural analysis, and manufactured a rocket system that placed fourth in Spaceport America Cup 2021.
- Served as Safety Officer responsible for providing hazard assessment and risk management, resulting in increased awareness of all students and zero safety incidents for all activities.
